“Our quest for authenticity and visual opulence led us on a filmmaking journey to remote, mountainous landscapes and age-old terrains. Scaling heights with 45kg+ of equipment, we devoted countless hours to capturing the raw essence of the script. The captivating beauty of these locations not only serves as a backdrop but also mirrors the untamed spirit of ancient lands.
In order to achieve this, we opted for the Sigma Art series lenses specifically the 14mm F1.8 DG HSM | Art, 20mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art, 50mm DG HSM | Art, and 135mm F1.8 DG HSM | Art due to their clean natural colour profile and high-resolution and low light capabilities, resulting in sharp images. The project was shot on an ARRI alexa MINI in 3.5k resolution with a Canon EF mount.
While the Sigma Cine series was beyond our budget, we discovered that the Cine series utilises rehoused Sigma Art optics. This led us to choose the Art series, and they performed exceptionally well in our initial tests.
To address the limitations of the short focus throw inherent in photo lenses, we incorporated a 3D printed geared ring for each lens. Additionally, we utilised the Tilta Nano focus-pulling system, allowing us to extend the throw and precisely control the focus.
