EM-140 DG Macro Flash
Multifunctional, dual tubed, macro flash designed for the latest digital and film SLR cameras.
The ELECTRONIC FLASH EM-140 DG Macro is designed to work with digital SLR cameras of most popular manufacturers. The EM-140 DG is ideal for photographing subjects in fine detail when the shadowless mode is used and is extremely effective for scientific and medical applications. Dual flash tubes can fire simultaneously or separately. Using only one flash tube creates a shadow which can give a three-dimensional feeling to the subject. The flash features a guide number of 14 w/ISO 100.
Designed to work with new Digital SLR cameras
The EM-140 DG is fully dedicated with new TTL flash control systems of all-popular camera manufacturers. Automatic functions of this flashgun deliver outstanding results and creative possibilities.
Macro Flash Adapters in many different sizes
Both ø55mm and ø62mm Macro Flash Adapter rings are provided with this flash unit, ø52mm, ø58mm, ø62mm, ø67mm, ø72mm and ø77mm ring adapters can be purchased separately. These Macro Flash Adapter rings make it possible to attach this flashgun to a wide variety of lenses.
Flash tubes can be switched on or off for creative flash control
The two flash tubes can fire together or independently for a wide range of lighting variations. When shadowless mode is used, subjects can be photographed in fine detail, this can be done by firing both flashtubes. Using only one flashtube creates a shadow which can give a three-dimensional feeling to the subject.
Wireless Flash Function
A three-dimensional feel can be created with the addition of the EF-610 DG SUPER, EF-530 DG SUPER or EF-500 DG SUPER flashgun. This separate flash unit can be located wirelessly above or to the side of the subject to create a more three-dimensional feel.
*Wireless Flash Function is not available with some camera models. For details please refer to the compatibility table.
Exposure Compensation Function
The exposure compensation function delivers outstanding creative possibilities to precisely reflect your intention. Lighting of the subject can be delicately adjusted and balanced with the background.
High Speed Synchro (FP) Flash
High Speed Synchro allows you to use a shutter speed faster than the camera shutter's normal synchronization speed.
Modelling Flash Function
The Modelling Flash allows for checking shadows and light balance on the subject prior to shooting.

RPS Journal - January 2006
‘The EM140 DG has a ‘shadowless’ mode built in, which is useful for facilitating such lighting effects. The model has dual flash tubes, which can be fired simultaneously or separately. Using just one tube can add three-dimensionality to a subject, and offers more creative control.’ ‘For those familiar with using an SLR flash, and I suspect even those who are not so familiar, the EM140 is simple to get to grips with, its functions and settings easily accessed and controlled.’ ‘…the EM140 DG, being compact and versatile, easy to understand and control, and flexible in its uses, can broaden the scope of creative possibilities available.’
Professional Image Maker - June/July/August 2006
‘Each tube is independently controllable and the entire flash unit can be rotated to change the modelling of the light and when the camera is rotated from say landscape to portrait format.’
What Digital Camera - May 2007
‘There’s a decent selection of modes, including multi-burst shooting and exposure compensation, as well as manual and TTL operation. It also offers wireless operation for hooking up to compatible flash units. The system is reasonably easy to use and fits a wide range of lenses thanks to the included adaptors.
‘Supplied in a heavy-duty carry case, the build quality of this is fantastic. With a range of modes available, including ETTL auto flash, manual flash, second curtain sync and high-speed sync, it’s a pretty versatile system that also offers FE lock mode, modelling flash and supports exposure compensation, wireless flash control and flash bracketing. Superb functionality and brilliant results – what more could you ask for?
‘The Sigma EM-140 certainly looks the part, with its matte black finish, simple button layout and modelling flash options, but it isn’t just a pretty piece of kit. In use, the flash output is even and shadowless, producing great shots every time. The clear LCD makes adjusting flash output easy for beginners and more advanced strobists.'
‘The EM-140 DG is one of the best ringflash units we’ve looked at. It’s packed with features that enable flexible control, and the build quality is good for the price'
