'With regards to controlling distortion, the Sigma 150mm is clearly
a first-class optic.'
'Sigma has produced a good all-round performer that will be welcomed
over a broad band of applications... it represents very good value.'

Ephotozine
- June 2005
'A well made and thought out macro lens with enough focal length
to enable skittish insect photography without putting them to flight.
Quiet and faster focusing with the ability to restrict the focusing
to the area you are working in improves the experience also. Good
balance on the excellent tripod collar makes for easy tripod work.’ |

Freelance and Digital - June / July 2005
'The Sigma 150mm f/2.8 Macro was, quite simply, excellent on full
frame digital, excellent on full frame film, and stunning on APS-C
sensor digital where the crop factor made it feel like having a
225mm f/2.8 for full frame which would focus larger than 1:1! This
lens, tested in Nikon mount on the D2X, Fuji S3, Kodak DCS Pro SLR/n
and Velvia 100 film would have to get our highest blob rating if
we didn’t despise blob ratings. Of course it has won photo
press awards already, and no wonder.' |

Image Maker - June/July/August 2006
'Photographers who specialize in natural history photography either
for money or enjoyment are going to love this one!' ’The
engineering of this lens is up to the usual high standard we expect
from the maker.’ 'The performance of the Sigma was essentially
flawless and in the field it was way ahead of all the other problems
such as camera shake and subject movement – this is a lens
you can trust to do any job.' ‘The 150mm lens however is a
real beauty, right up there with the standard we have come to expect
from Sigma.’ |

Digital Camera - September 2006
'Sigma’s EX Matt finish is smart and hardwearing. The broad
manual focus ring has a quality feel and good ribbing, so is easy
to grip. Focusing is internal so the lens doesn’t change size
as you focus closer. AF is smooth and almost silent, thanks to Sigma’s
Hypersonic Motor, and a three position focus limiter stops the lens
hunting through its full range.’ |

'As a macro, it works well, with plenty of working distance to chase
bugs and the like, but short enough to handhold. Professionally
built and offering everything you could possibly want, this lens
is quick, quiet and produces punchy images. And the price won’t
make too big a dent in your bank balance either.’ |

Camera - September 2007
’Closest focus distance is 0.38 metres but with a focal length
of 150mm, you don’t need to get so close to start with.’
‘With its 150mm focal length, HSM autofocus and sturdy tripod
collar, the Sigma certainly has plenty going for it at the price
point.’ |
