Zoom Lens
70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro
Telephoto
zoom lens with excellent cost performance and optimised for use with digital
SLR cameras.

Capable
of macro photography, this lens has a 1:2 maximum close-up magnification
at the 300 mm focal length. It’s the ideal high performance lens
for portraits, sports photography, nature photography, and other types
of photography that frequently use the telephoto range.
SLD
(Special Low Dispersion) glass
We used SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass in this lens for excellent
correction of chromatic aberration. This also corrects for fluctuation
of aberration due to focusing. The new multi layer lens coating reduces
flare and ghosting, a common problem with digital cameras and also creates
an optimum colour balance.
Macro shooting with maximum magnification 1:2
The minimum focusing distance is 1.5 m/59 inches at all zoom settings.
It also has a switch for changeover to macro photography at focal lengths
between 200mm and 300mm with a maximum close-up magnification from 1:2.9
to 1:2.
Without changing the distance between camera and subject, you can change
the shooting magnification.

Digital
Photo - April 2006
' Impressive results that are close to those of the APO version.
There’s a good level of sharpness throughout…'It comes
complete with a switchable macro mode for use between 200-300mm,
with up to 1:2 magnification. This is a well-built lens and great
value for the price.' |

Ephotozine
- August 2005
‘One of the features of this lens is the ‘Macro’
mode, which allows photography to a ratio of 1:2. Not true Macro,
but a useful feature just the same.’ ‘For someone who
is on a tight budget, this lens, having been upgraded to DG (digitally
optimised) status, seems to have closed the gap slightly on its
more expensive sister.’ |

Monthly - November 2007
‘Often dismissed in favour of its slightly more expensive
APO brother, this lens is a capable performer for those on a tight
budget or those just dipping their toes in the SLR water. Billed
as a ‘macro’lens, the 1:2 capabilities…are good
for such disciplines as butterfly and bug photography as well as
an introduction to longer focal lengths.’ |
