24mm f/1.8 EX DG ASPHERICAL MACRO
The large aperture wide-angle lens for
close up photography
This large-aperture wide-angle lens is
equipped macro focusing capability with a maximum magnification of 1:2.7
and fast F1.8 maximum aperture. The use of aspherical lenses are offered
for superior peripheral brightness and compensation of aberrations and
astigmatism. This is an ideal DG lens for Digital SLR cameras.

Macro
capability
This lens is capable of Macro photography at minimum focusing down to
18cm (7.1 inch) (reproduction ratio 1:2.7). It incorporates the floating
focus system in order to minimize distortion, spherical aberration and
astigmatism, which provide high performance at all shooting distance down
to 18 cm (7.1 inch). Reproduction ratio 1:2.7 and an angle of view of
84.1allow capturing of high quality images not only a subject but also
the surrounding scenery.
Large front element and Super wide-angle
This lens has an advanced optical construction, in order to obtain adequate
peripheral brightness at open aperture. Also, the iris diaphragm has 9
diaphragm blades to obtain beautiful out of focus images in the foreground
and background.
Handling
This lens also incorporates a Dual-Focus (DF) mechanism. It is easy to
hold the lens, since the focusing ring does not rotate during auto-focus,
yet it provides adequate focusing torque of the focusing ring during manual
focusing of the lens. Also this allows the use of a "Petal-type Hood"
, which is superior light blocking effect.
Aspherical lens
It incorporates a floating focus system and uses two aspherical lens elements
for minimizing distortion, spherical aberration and astigmatism.

British
Journal of Photography - 25th July 2001
’Equally common to the trio is a near-perfect hood, made
possible by the fact that the front does not extend or contract
when the lens is focused. The scalloped hood is serrated on the
inside to increase the stray light control, and a sensible soft
case that can be attached on a waist belt is included in the asking
price - as it is with the other two [20mm and 28mm] lenses.’

Amateur
Photograher - September 2001
The 24mm f/1.8 offers visually outstanding sharpness from corner
to corner, especially around the f/8 mark. Vignetting too is undetectable,
even when wide open. Colour and contrast are faithfully recorded,
with plenty of detail in the highlights and shadow areas...this
is a popular focal length and should satisfy many users. Digital
photographers will love the useful 36mm comparative focal length.
