Ephotozine - June 2005
'The older lens was a nice lens… the new one has improved considerably. The exercise proves beyond doubt that Sigma are taking their programme of change to digitally enhanced models seriously and not just changing the coating and packaging!
As this is a wide-angle zoom, it is good to see that the optimum performance is attained at the 17mm short end whereas most zooms are optimised for the middle of their range'.

Photography Monthly - June 2006
Suitable for use on film and also optimised for the digital SLRs, this model is the latest variant of a classic optic. Typically Sigma, it’s attractively finished and has a robust feel. The lens barrel also features a useful depth-of-field scale. It also boats a decent maximum aperture.’

Pixel - 11th December 2006
‘Build quality on these EX lenses just gets better and better and this lens felt more OEM than the one supplied by Nikon, and that is saying something. The crispness of this lens is testament to Sigma’s design ideals, in producing an optic that works at its optimum at the widest setting.'
