As a long time SIGMA lens owner I recently decided to take a look at their current Sigma Global Vision range of lenses for use in my capacity as the resident photographer at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre located in East Kirkby.

I was not disappointed! Not only are the ‘Art’ and ‘Sports’ lenses visually attractive they prove to be well constructed with dust and splash proof sealing capable (in my experience) of handling harsh weather and dusty conditions. All of the lenses I’ve used deliver great sharp photographs and where installed, the Optical Stabilisation functions very well.
The following collection of photographs were taken during 2019 at the Heritage Centre’s regular flying events and during resident Avro Lancaster NX611 “Just Jane” winter maintenance/restoration to airworthyness.
SIGMA 14-24mm F2.8 DG DN | Art – This ultra-wide-angle zoom lens is typically used in an aircraft hangar where lighting conditions are variable. The six hangar photographs were taken hand held.

SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 DG OS HSM | Art – I have found this lens to be exceptional. With its excellent build quality, the lens is comfortable to handle despite its weight and the Optical Stabilisation & Autofocus ensure excellent image quality shot after shot.

SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 DG OS HSM | Sports – Sigma’s versatile telephoto lens is a pleasure to use and its zoom range proves ideal for a multitude of uses. Featuring a wide f/2.8 aperture with Optical Stabilization, the lens has proven to be especially versatile and is ready to tackle many of the low light situations I can find myself in around the museum and airfield.

SIGMA 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Sports – This is a highly desirable lens suitable for wildlife/sport/aviation photographers who are seeking a super-telephoto reach without turning to Canon and Nikon and their astronomically priced zoom lenses.
