Photographer Chris Jameson is a predominately self-taught photographer but has also been fortunate to receive the help from other skilled photographers.  He is the winner of the Sigma Imaging UK ltd. I am an enthusiastic photographer and I have used my enthusiasm to support charities that are important to me. My appreciation of wildlife, landscapes, environment and community has had a significant impact on my digital photography journey. Losing both my parents to Cancer, the local Hospice was part of this journey and undoubtedly was a catalyst to my charitable work as a photographer. A small bequest enabled me to buy my first DSLR, a few years later I was able to fulfil a Photography Assignment and provide the local Hospice with a unique local landscape image.

Since then I’ve supported charities such as: Trinity Hospice (Blackpool), Royal National Lifeboat Institute (accredited photographer), Independent Lifeboats, Royal Society for Protection of Birds (local group) and The World Owl Trust. Winning the SIGMA 18-300mm F3.5-6.3 DC DC MACRO OS HSM | Contemporary lens was a huge benefit for my charity work as the work I do is usually on a ‘No cost’ basis since I donate all my time and cost. Therefore there isn’t an extra income to invest in new equipment.
The SIGMA 18-300mm F3.5-6.3 DC MACRO OS HSM | Contemporary lens really saved me on the day I covered the RNLI & HM Coastguard Rescue Helicopter training day. I had my longest Canon Pro lens with me that morning but unbeknownst to me I had damaged it whilst photographing on the beach.  The rain prevented me from seeing the camera screen clearly (even when magnified) and I hadn’t realise until I got home that all my shots were out of focus. So I was mighty glad I took my new Sigma lens along for a test drive at this type of work, I only tried it out on a few captures but they ended up being the only ones worth using.
