The SIGMA 14-24mm F2.8 DG DN | Art lens has been a fantastic addition to my kit. My job involves shooting both stills and videos – and usually in varying lighting.

The fast aperture is critical when I’m in low light environments. With the superb high ISO of the Lumix S1 it enables me to get a decent shutter speed to freeze the action too.

I gave the lens a thorough testing at the Cool Britannia Festival at Knebworth House, it was perfect for the wide stage shots as well as wandering into the crowd shooting them atmosphere. The 24mm is the perfect focal length for capturing candids and the 14 mm is wide enough to take in a huge width.

You can get some great results by using the close focusing distance too. Going wide and close yields some very cool stuff.

The lens is solid. Feels great on the camera and although the front element is large it’s not cumbersome.

I also shoot video, and on a gimbal this lens is fabulous. When zooming the balance of the gimbal hardly changes because the zoom mechanism is internal so I can continue shooting at all the focal ranges without having to reset the gimbal at all.

It’s a stellar lens for both photo and video. Has a great focal range which is perfect for event photography and videography- also interiors and some really natty effects that a wide lens like this can offer.
