I was looking forward to using this amazing new trio of SIGMA Contemporary lenses in the EF-M mount for my Canon M100. Having used the SIGMA 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary in E-Mount before, I was looking forward to using this lens again plus the SIGMA 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary and SIGMA 56mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary and seeing what they could do too! I think of these lenses as a kind of holy trinity of primes covering 24, 45 and 85 approximately on full frame cameras. With these lenses full frame becomes moot.
Of course, my plans to take these lenses to weddings, portraits and food and drink photographer all changed because of COVID-19 so instead I’ve used them to capture everyday life during lockdown.
I’ve really enjoyed using all three SIGMA lenses. It really allowed me to enjoy photography with a nice portable lens kit from 24-85mm equivalent with fast aperture and amazing image quality. They all fit in a small shoulder bag so easy to take out on a long day. I love the SIGMA 56mm F1.4 DC DN | C for portraits and landscapes, the SIGMA 30mm F1.4 DC DN | C is a great one lens general purpose lens and the SIGMA 16mm F1.4 DC DN | C is lovely for landscapes and when I want to include more of the environment in my shots. The recent easing of lockdown restrictions and the approval for small sized weddings or gatherings has given me new hope that I may have the opportunity in the future to make proper use of the SIGMA DC DN lenses for EF-M mount.
